Qualcomm intros Snapdragon 845


Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform powers most of the popular flagship smartphones of 2017. But now with 2017 coming to an end the focus shifts on next gen Snapdragon 8xx chip that will power 2018 flagships.

Qualcomm at its Snapdragon Technology Summit confirmed the name of its next top of the line processor: Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform. The chip will be manufactured on Samsung's Foundry's lines and will be produced with 10nm processes.

The chip maker also mentioned that Snapdragon 845 will be built around six pillars: camera, augmented and virtual reality, Artificial Intelligence, vault-like security, Gigabit LTE and powerful battery.

Xiaomi Founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer, Lei Jun also took the stage to announce that Xiaomi’s next flagship smartphone Mi 7 will be powered by Snapdragon 845.

Qualcomm did not reveal any other information, but said that the full unveiling of Snapdragon 845 chip will take place on December 6.

According to rumors Snapdragon 845 will be an octa-core chip running on 4 x high-end ARM Cortex A75 cores and 4 x power efficient Cortex A55 cores. It is expected to pack Adreno 630 GPU.
